As a child, Grammy-nominated rapper Aminé, real name Adam Amine Daniel, spent hours at the North Portland branch of the Multnomah County Library with friends, browsing books and CDs.

Now 31, he’s returning the favor to that childhood landmark with the Biblioteca 2000, his latest New Balance collaboration, set to drop October 3.
The shoe is a bright green sneaker that glows in the dark, a playful nod to the glow-in-the-dark stars Aminé used to stick on his ceiling while reading library books. “The library wasn’t just a building,” he shares on Instagram; “it shaped my childhood. Naming the shoe Biblioteca 2000 felt like a way to honor that curiosity.”
Aminé is also running a book drive through September 10. Donations can be dropped off in person at 207 N.E. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Portland, where a giant book depository is on display.

Donors who tag Aminé in an Instagram post or story showing proof of donation will be entered for a chance to win a free pair of Biblioteca 2000s.
