Authorities in Pasadena are investigating after a body was found inside a donation bin outside a local Goodwill store early Monday morning.
Pasadena police responded to the scene at the 1300 block of Allen Avenue shortly after 10:30 a.m., where they discovered an unresponsive man inside one of the large metal bins commonly used for clothing donations. Paramedics later confirmed the man was dead.

According to initial reports, the man may have climbed into the bin and become trapped. There were no immediate signs of foul play, but investigators say an autopsy will be conducted to determine the exact cause of death.
The area around the donation site was blocked off for several hours as detectives examined the scene. Officials have not released the identity of the man, pending notification of next of kin.
This isn’t the first time donation bins have raised safety concerns. Similar incidents have occurred in recent years where individuals, often experiencing homelessness, have become stuck while trying to retrieve clothing or other items from the containers.
The Goodwill location has not issued a public statement as of now.
