Kanye West is once again making headlines, this time over a dispute with e-commerce platform Shopify. The rapper and designer claims the company is holding back $4 million in funds following the abrupt shutdown of his Yeezy online store.
The situation began in February 2025, when West launched a new collection through a Super Bowl weekend promo. The campaign included a bizarre local TV ad showing Ye in a dentist chair, directing viewers to visit Yeezy.com. What followed stirred immediate backlash — the site began selling a T-shirt featuring a swastika blended with the Star of David, labeled “HH-01,” a reference many interpreted as “Heil Hitler.”

The product sparked outrage across the internet, prompting condemnation from the Anti-Defamation League and swift action from Shopify. The platform quickly took down the Yeezy storefront, citing violations of its hate speech policy.
Now, Ye claims Shopify is refusing to release $4 million owed from sales and merchandise. In a recent video, he publicly accused the company of withholding the funds, saying, “They owe me $4 million. They took my money and shut the site down.”
The controversy also had ripple effects outside of Shopify. Kanye’s talent agency, 33 & West, reportedly dropped him following the incident, and his account on X (formerly Twitter) was taken offline shortly after.
Shopify has yet to comment publicly on Ye’s claims regarding the withheld money. However, the episode reignites broader conversations about content moderation, financial control, and the limits of platform accountability when controversial figures push boundaries.
