Louis Vuitton Customer Data Leak Under Investigation, 419,000 Customers Get Hacked

Hong Kong officials have launched an investigation after a data leak at Louis Vuitton affected over 419,000 customers.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data said Monday that the breach involved names, phone numbers, and some birthdates from users of the Louis Vuitton Hong Kong website. The company reported the leak earlier this month.

Louis Vuitton confirmed that it was caused by a cyberattack targeting a third-party service provider. The brand said it had taken immediate steps to contain the breach and notify affected users. The company is now working with local authorities and cybersecurity experts to review its systems.

The privacy watchdog has started a formal probe to see if Louis Vuitton properly followed Hong Kong’s data protection rules. Investigators have already carried out an inspection at the company’s office.

This is the third major cybersecurity attack against LVMH in recent months.
