Meta is preparing to broaden its retail footprint by opening additional physical stores aimed at showcasing and selling its hardware products. Currently, the company operates a single Meta Store located on its Burlingame, California campus. This store allows customers to experience products like the Meta Quest VR headsets and Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses firsthand.
The decision to expand comes as Meta seeks to enhance customer engagement and drive sales of its AI-powered wearable devices. In 2024, the company sold over 1 million smart glasses units. CEO Mark Zuckerberg acknowledged this as a promising start but emphasized the need for these products to evolve into significant computing platforms to make a substantial impact on the business.

While specific details regarding the number and locations of the new stores remain undisclosed, Meta’s move aligns with strategies employed by other tech giants like Apple and Amazon, which have established physical retail spaces to promote their products. The company previously tested the retail model with a temporary Meta Lab store in Los Angeles, offering demos of its smart glasses.
As Meta continues to invest in AI and virtual reality technologies, the expansion of its retail presence is seen as a step toward making these innovations more accessible to consumers. The company aims to provide immersive experiences that allow customers to interact with its products directly, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation of the technology.
