Nike and Skims Delay Collaboration Amid Production Issues

Nike and Kim Kardashian’s brand Skims have postponed the launch of their joint activewear label, NikeSKIMS. Originally scheduled for spring of this year, the debut has been pushed back to later in 2025 due to production setbacks, the company confirmed.

This partnership, first announced in February, is a cornerstone of Nike’s strategy under new CEO Elliott Hill to strengthen its position in women’s wear, an area where competitors like Lululemon and Athleta have gained ground. The line is expected to include training apparel, footwear, and accessories designed for women, with a broader global rollout planned for 2026.

Nike spokespersons noted the delay was driven by quality control, not market hesitation, saying both companies are taking extra time to ensure the line meets performance and fit expectations. Bloomberg first reported the postponement, which also caused a small dip in Nike’s stock price.

For Skims, founded in 2019 by Kim Kardashian and known for its inclusive shapewear, the collaboration marks a significant step into sportswear. The venture leverages Skims’ emphasis on body positivity alongside Nike’s innovation in athletic design.

While there’s no new launch date yet, officials say the collection will arrive later this year in select U.S. stores and online, with international expansion to follow. The teams remain focused on delivering a high-quality product that lives up to consumer and investor expectations.

This delay highlights the challenges of coordinating large-scale fashion launches and reinforces the stakes involved for major brands balancing hype with quality execution.
