Casetify’s latest collaboration with Dragon Ball Z is under fire after accusations of copying started circulating on social media. The controversy stems from a design feature in their new AirPods Max case that resembles a past concept from Hong Kong-based designer Offgod (Andrew Mok).
The standout detail in question? A translucent lens extending from the headphone’s side, a direct nod to the iconic DBZ scouters. But that same element appears almost identically in a 3D concept OFFGOD posted over a year ago. His version also features a gray frame and a side panel lens hovering in front of the user’s eye, clearly inspired by anime tech aesthetics.

Offgod took to Instagram Stories to call it out, posting side-by-side images of his original concept and the Casetify product with the caption “lolll 😮💨😮💨😮💨.” He tagged Casetify directly, subtly putting the brand on blast without saying much and letting the visuals speak for themselves.

His collaborator and fellow creative, Tate, also chimed in by reposting the comparison with the word “Copytify 😭.”

The design overlap is hard to ignore. While Casetify hasn’t publicly responded to the claim, the timing and resemblance has sparked debate.
