Salehe Bembury has officially announced that he’s launching his own sneaker brand, marking a major new chapter in his career.
The designer, known for his futuristic approach, first made his name at high-end fashion houses, including a stint as head of sneaker design at Versace. From there, he built a cult following through collaborations with brands like New Balance, Crocs, and ANTA, each one stamped with his recognizable design language.

Now, he’s ready to make a shoe that’s entirely his own. In a new set of Instagram Stories, Bembury responded to fan questions with never-before-seen photos of his sneaker outsoles featuring “SQUISH TECH” and “SPUNGE” branding. In one of his replies he said, “Be clear, this is not a drop. I am starting a footwear brand.”

SPUNGE was previously the name of his clothing brand, which focused on apparel and accessories. Now, it seems like the name may be evolving into the identity for his new footwear line, though that’s yet to be officially confirmed.
Either way, this marks the first time Bembury has publicly confirmed his own sneaker launch. No release date or product shots have been revealed yet, but a full rollout should be coming soon.
